Warcraft 3 Howto for FreeBSD

Summary

How to install Warcraft 3 using wine on FreeBSD

Good

We can now play Warcraft 3 without rebooting.

Bad

The old bad stuff was fixed with the latest version of wine.

Instructions

1. Install your video card's 3D drivers
2. CVSup your ports collection and install the latest version of wine
3. Setup ~/.wine/config (I'm not going to go into this there is lots of info out there.)
4. Mount the Warcraft 3 CD and run: wine install.exe
5. Installed the Warcraft 3 NoCD crack since direct CD access doesn't work
6. move the Program Files/Warcraft III/movies to another directory since it will hang when trying to play the movies
7. Set the following registry key in ~/.wine/user.reg
   [Software\\Blizzard Entertainment\\Warcraft III\\Misc] 1028798988
   "seenintromovie"=dword:00000001
8. Now start the game with the following command: wine -- War3.exe -opengl
